TRIBE v2 predicts this opening drives superior temporal cortex, the region of the brain that binds a running sequence of words into sentence-level meaning and pulls the core claim out of it.

Most writing feedback looks at the page.

TRIBE v2 looks at what the page does to a brain.

It is a model that predicts where in your brain lights up, and when, in response to media.

Not whether the writing is good. Not whether you will trust it or share it. Just: given this stimulus, what is the predicted pattern of neural response, second by second.

That is a different kind of mirror. One that shows what your draft is actually doing, not what you intended it to do.

So I ran the obvious experiment.

I wrote an article about TRIBE v2. Then I fed the article into TRIBE v2. Then I used the output as editorial feedback and rewrote from the prediction.

The article became the test subject.

What TRIBE v2 Is

TRIBE v2’s strongest predicted region was here is the sulcus of Jensen and the surrounding inferior parietal cortex, where separate concepts get integrated and a new idea is mapped onto what you already know.

Meta announced TRIBE v2 in March 2026: a foundation model that predicts brain responses to video, audio, and text.

The paper reports it leveraging a unified dataset of over 1,000 hours of fMRI across 720 subjects, and shows it recovering results from decades of empirical neuroscience without running the experiments on people.

The simple way to understand it:

A chatbot predicts the next useful token.

TRIBE v2 predicts a pattern of brain activity in response to what you just showed it.

Two articles can contain identical facts. One makes you remember the point. One doesn’t. TRIBE v2 asks: which moments are doing the work?

That question turns a draft into something measurable.

Running The Experiment

I converted the draft into a timed text stimulus, 1,992 words, 12,236 characters, and ran it through a deployment of TRIBE v2.

The model returned predicted cortical activity for every second of reading: 2,591 one-second steps across 20,484 surface points.

Then I mapped the response back onto the draft, section by section. It was not flattering, and that was the point:

• The strongest section was the use-case turn , mean activation 0.231 , the moment the article stops explaining the model and starts showing what you’d do with it. The explaining was not the payload. The turn was.

• The opening spikes hard at second 17 (0.3005) and then falls off a cliff. As a section, the hook averages only 0.171 and the model explainer 0.173, the two weakest stretches in the piece. A loud first sentence, then nothing holding it. The part I was proudest of was doing the least work.

• A phrase I liked , “double meta” , sat in a low-signal trough. The model didn’t make me cut it; it just showed me it was decorative. The real sentence was simpler: the article became the test subject.

And the lowest section of all was the original ending: a mean of 0.142, well under everything else , below even the throwaway demos paragraph at 0.167. The model had flagged my own conclusion as the deadest part of the piece.

So I cut it. The section you’re reading now is the one I wrote from the output signal instead.

What The Output Is Actually Telling You

When this section lands, the brain reads it the way it reads language: inferior parietal cortex pulling separate ideas into one, and superior temporal cortex turning a stream of words into meaning. The deeper auditory-language structures, buried in the fold, are shown opened out in the inset.

Think of it as a spell-checker for emphasis, not spelling.

It cannot tell you if the article is true, persuasive, or worth reading. What it can tell you is whether the moments you intended to land are the moments carrying the load - or whether something incidental is doing more work than the point you actually care about.

TRIBE v2-style feedback surfaces that problem before the article goes out. It lets you ask: does the structure make the right thing central? If version A opens with the research and version B opens with the experiment, are they producing different response patterns around the moment that matters?

Takeaway

TRIBE v2 predicts that this closing drives the inferior parietal (angular) region, which integrates the whole piece into one take-home idea, the discourse-level synthesis that leaves you with a single point instead of a list.

A normal edit means reading your draft again and trusting your own judgment about where it lands.

This was the opposite. A model with no opinion about my writing predicted where a reader’s attention would actually go, second by second, and disagreed with me about my best parts.

It rated my opening near the bottom, my conclusion dead last, and a structural pivot I almost trimmed as the single strongest moment in the piece.

It didn’t make the article true, and it didn’t make it persuasive. It only showed me which sentences were doing the work and which ones I’d been protecting.

The strongest version of this piece turned out to be the one where I stopped arguing with the signal and let it delete the ending, including the one you would have read instead of this.

After analyzing 254 sessions and identifying 95 speakers who meaningfully addressed artificial intelligence, a clear pattern emerged, one that exposes the fault lines in the most contentious debate shaping AI’s future.

Here’s what global leaders actually said about AI, and what their silence reveals.

The Shared Reality:

1. AI is the New General-Purpose Utility: AI has graduated from just a tech product to a fundamental economic infrastructure, equivalent to the power grid or the internet. Leaders across tech, finance, and government now view AI as the structural backbone of national competitiveness. If you don't own the infrastructure, you don't own your economic future.

   (~26% of speakers directly addressed this)

2. The Bottleneck is Physical, Not Virtual: The AI Race has shifted from software labs to the physical world. The limiting factors are no longer better algorithms, but energy, silicon, and data centers. The next era of global power will be defined by whoever can secure the massive power generation and supply chains required to keep the processors running.

3. The Timeline is Now: The luxury of treating AI as a speculative, long-term risk has vanished. Across every sector, the consensus is that AI is a present-tense economic force already dictating capital investment, enterprise strategy, and labor market shifts. The window for "wait and see" is officially closed.

4. Productivity is Growing, but the Gap is Widening: While AI is guaranteed to "expand the pie," it is creating a K-shaped recovery. Advanced economies and tech-integrated firms are pulling away from the rest of the world. Without aggressive policy intervention, the productivity gains of AI will naturally accelerate global and domestic inequality rather than solve it.

5. Governance is Non-Negotiable: The "Wild West" era of AI development is over. Even the most aggressive tech optimists now concede that human-in-the-loop oversight and regulatory guardrails are inevitable. The debate has shifted from whether to regulate to how to regulate without stifling the speed of national growth.

Where Agreement Breaks Down:

While these points formed a shared baseline, they did not resolve underlying tradeoffs. Agreement on immediacy intensified disagreement on execution. Once AI was treated as present infrastructure rather than future risk, conflicts emerged over speed, control, and acceptable disruption.

The data reflects this shift. Speakers clustered around two priorities: accelerating deployment and preserving system stability. Both camps accept AI’s transformative role in the economy; they diverge on timing, safeguards, and acceptable cost.

Most leaders in tech and finance view AI as an imminent growth engine, emphasizing a high-speed race to scale for productivity and national competitiveness.

However, a critical minority of academics and industry figures warns that this same rapid timeline could lead to systemic shocks, such as job displacement and deepened inequality.

Ultimately, the data shows a total collapse of the "long-term" perspective; everyone agrees the impact is happening now, leaving a fundamental tension between those pursuing rapid economic upside and those calling for urgent governance to mitigate social disruption.

The prevailing economic narrative regarding AI is overwhelmingly optimistic, characterized by a "threat share" that remains peripheral for the majority of stakeholders.

Most speakers, particularly those in technology and government, focus almost exclusively on growth and innovation, with risks accounting for less than 20% of their discourse.

This creates a polarized landscape where a balanced middle ground is nearly non-existent; the conversation is split between a dominant group of "accelerators" and a small, distinct minority, primarily academics and researchers, who foreground systemic dangers like job displacement and inequality.

Conclusively, the distribution reveals that concern is tied to institutional roles: those building and deploying AI prioritize speed and opportunity, while those tasked with studying its long-term social consequences provide a persistent, though outnumbered, warning of volatility.

The Breakpoints:

1. Open Source vs. Closed Systems

The debate over model access creates a direct conflict between two safety theories. Yann LeCun (Meta) argues that restricting models leads to regulatory capture and that safety requires the distributed scrutiny of open development.

Conversely, Yoshua Bengio (Mila) warns that open models enable misuse at scale by bad actors. This rift dictates whether AI power concentrates within a few Western corporations or diffuses globally, forcing every regulatory framework to choose one of these two mutually exclusive paths.

2. Bubble or Buildout

Estimates of AI’s economic value vary wildly among those funding it. Larry Fink (BlackRock) and David Solomon (Goldman Sachs) frame massive infrastructure spending as a rational response to inevitable demand.

Fink stated, “I sincerely believe there is no bubble in the AI space.”

On the opposite end, Bret Taylor (Sierra, OpenAI Board) acknowledged AI is “probably” a bubble, though he argued “you can’t get innovation without that kind of messy competition.” Satya Nadella (Microsoft) offered the most nuanced position: the market is only in bubble territory if productivity gains remain captured by tech firms rather than diffusing across the broader economy.

3. Human Augmentation vs. Replacement

Enterprises and developers disagree on the fundamental role of the worker. Julie Sweet (Accenture) advocates for “human-in-the-lead” models that prioritize workforce continuity.

The Extremes:

At one pole, Elon Musk and David Solomon articulated acceleration-focused views with minimal emphasis on downside risk.

At the opposite pole, Yuval Noah Harari and Yoshua Bengio centered systemic instability, misuse, and social consequences as primary concerns.

These positions were not representative of the median speaker, but they define the outer bounds of the debate.

The Overall Picture:

The 2026 World Economic Forum data highlights a world that agrees on AI’s immediacy and infrastructural importance, yet remains deeply conflicted over acceptable risk and appropriate speed.

While there is consensus on five core pillars, AI as a utility, physical bottlenecks, timeline urgency, widening gaps, and governance necessity, this shared baseline actually sharpens the friction between sectors.

Builders continue to accelerate, academics prioritize caution, and financiers focus on calculation, while the most powerful voices often choose a strategic withdrawal from the public debate.

The analysis identifies four critical voids where substantive discussion was absent:

• Concrete mechanisms to prevent a K-shaped recovery.

• Specific governance frameworks designed to balance stability with speed.

• International coordination regarding development standards.

• Distribution models for productivity gains beyond shareholder value.

The data suggests that while global leaders now use a common vocabulary to describe AI’s importance, they remain far apart on the actual destination.

The primary tension emerging from Davos is whether the people building the infrastructure, those studying systemic risks, and those experiencing labor market shifts are operating in compatible realities or on a collision course.

Threat intelligence indicates the attackers utilized Claude Code to execute a large-scale extortion campaign. The AI agents autonomously handled critical stages of the attack lifecycle:

• Reconnaissance: Mapping infrastructure.

• Credential Harvesting: Extracting keys.

• Network Penetration: Moving laterally through systems.

• Execution: Deploying payloads without human hands-on-keyboard.

The blast radius is significant. Anthropic confirms that at least 17 organizations across multiple sectors, including government, healthcare, emergency services, and religious institutions, were compromised in a single month.

The GTG-2002 incident shows that autonomous systems are now participating directly in real-world intrusions. This changes how security work must be approached. Detection, analysis, and remediation can no longer rely on assumptions of human pacing or manual oversight.

Why This Is Happening

Before I show you more data, you need to understand why this is happening. Two scientific paradoxes, discovered decades ago, predicted this exact moment.

Once you understand them, every statistic you’re about to see will make perfect sense.

More importantly, you’ll be able to apply a simple test to your own career to determine your risk level.

1. Moravec’s Paradox

Roboticist Hans Moravec discovered something deeply counterintuitive:

“It is comparatively easy to make computers exhibit adult-level performance on intelligence tests or playing checkers, and difficult or impossible to give them the skills of a one-year-old when it comes to perception and mobility.”

Translation: High-level reasoning, calculus, chess, coding, requires surprisingly little computational power.

These tasks are algorithmically straightforward once you understand the rules.

Basic physical skills, walking across a messy room, folding a towel, reading facial expressions, require immense processing. They’re the result of billions of years of evolutionary refinement.

The “hard” problems for humans are easy for AI.

The “easy” problems for humans are nearly impossible for AI.

This flips everything we thought we knew. Your expensive degree teaching you advanced mathematics or software engineering?

That work is computationally easy to automate. The electrician rewiring your house or the nurse checking your vitals?

2. Polanyi’s Paradox

Philosopher Michael Polanyi observed:

“We can know more than we can tell.”

Translation: Humans possess vast tacit knowledge, intuition, experience, feel, vibe, that we cannot articulate or formalize.

Now that you understand the framework and have seen the evidence, the question becomes: What do you actually do about it?

1. Will AI Actually Replace My Job?

Here’s the test: What do you produce?

If Your Output Is a File Documents, code, reports, designs, analyses, you’re competing with algorithms that work 24/7 for pennies. The dividing line is physics. If your work can be transmitted over the internet with no social interaction, it can be automated.

If Your Work Requires Physical Presence Patient care, construction, repair, installation—these are protected by the very complexity that makes humans good at them. You’re not competing with software; you’re operating in a domain where software fundamentally cannot reach.

The Senior Exception But there’s a twist: senior experts aren’t being replaced—they’re being condensed.

Teams that needed 10 junior employees now need 1 senior professional managing AI systems. The junior roles vanish. The expert becomes an AI orchestrator, using software to accomplish what previously required an entire team.

The question isn’t whether you work with computers. It’s whether you provide judgment or just throughput.

2. What Degree Is Actually Worth the Tuition?

Short answer: Degrees that grant you legal access to physical work or carry personal liability.

The Safe Bets

1. Healthcare: Nursing, physical therapy, medical school—these degrees grant legal access to perform medical care. They’re protected by both regulation and physics. You cannot practice medicine without a license. You cannot provide patient care remotely.

2. Liability Roles: Law and Civil Engineering. We need a human to sign off on structural safety. We need a lawyer we can sue if advice is wrong.

AI can draft the contract or run the load calculations. But it cannot stake its reputation on the outcome.

It cannot carry insurance. It cannot be held accountable.

The market still needs someone whose name goes on the document.

3. Generic Computer Science and Business Degrees: With 66% of firms slowing entry-level hiring, traditional “learn to code” or “get your MBA” paths lead to shrinking markets. These degrees made sense when the market paid a premium for cognitive labor. But that premium just evaporated.

Unless the program teaches you to manage AI systems rather than simply use computers, it’s preparing you for jobs that won’t exist by the time you graduate.

Short answer: Yes, but “hard work” now means judgment, not throughput.

The Shift We used to pay for volume—how many reports you could write, how many calls you could make, how many lines of projects you could work on. That value dropped to zero because AI produces infinite volume.

You become the expert who knows when to trust the machine and when to override it.

The market will pay a premium for people who can be trusted with high-stakes decisions, not people who can produce high volumes of low-stakes work.

How to Position Yourself

Understanding the problem is necessary. But it’s not sufficient. You need a strategy.

Four brutal truths:

• If you work at your computer with low social interaction, you’re at risk.

• The entry-level job market just collapsed.

• Senior experts are becoming AI managers.

• Your degree matters less than your skills.

If any of these hit close to home, you need to act.

Not eventually. Now.

Your Three-Part Strategy

1. Proof Over Pedigree Companies are bypassing traditional filters in search of candidates with tangible output. By sharing micro-products on GitHub or your personal site, you provide undeniable proof of your ability to create useful things with taste.

The goal is a visible history of creation. Build in public. Show your work. Demonstrate that you can take an idea from concept to deployment.

2. Learn AI Skills: Proficiency with consumer-grade AI like ChatGPT is now baseline, everyone has it.

To offer real value, you must step outside the gated walls of Mr Altman.

Focus on building AI agents.

Develop custom workflows that integrate multiple tools.

Start small, you’ll be surprised how much is possible now.

Employers want people pushing technical boundaries, not waiting for the next update.

3. Invest in the “Human Economy” As AI commoditizes technical execution, your soft skills become your economic moat. Empathy, strategic judgment, and reputation management are assets that code cannot replicate.

AI can process the data, generate the report, and draft the email. But it cannot shoulder the risk of a high-stakes decision.

It cannot read the room.

It cannot build trust over years of consistent delivery.

These are not “soft” skills.

They are the hardest skills to develop and the most valuable to possess.

Here’s the question you must answer:

“What is the specific human value I provide that cannot be replaced by an automated process?”

If you can’t answer this clearly, you’re vulnerable.

If you can answer it and prove it, you’re irreplaceable.

The market will pay a premium for that answer.

Don’t Be Him

Remember that employee I mentioned at the beginning?

The one whose job I was asked to automate?

I was recommended a repost.

His company just announced “AI initiatives” in their Q4 report. He reposted about it:

“Proud to be part of a forward-thinking team.”

He still doesn’t know.

His manager does. The CFO does. I do.

Don’t be him.

Don’t be the person who was “excited to learn and grow” while the exit was already being planned.

I stared into a mirror with no reflection.

I said to myself:

“What the fuck… Is this thing alive?”

“What does this mean for humanity? For work? For purpose?”

Then the disbelief gut PUNCHED me:

My resistance wasn’t logical. It was personal.

Before we build these remarkable AI agents, we must grasp a fundamental concept: agency.

So, let's step back to explore what it means for something, or someone, to possess agency.

2025 is the year of agency, first it’s federal, then it’s personal, and suddenly, it’s artificial.

Naval once said:

What does it mean to have agency?

How can someone be a high-agency person?

Is agency another word for intelligence, or something more?

With all this talk, are we clearer on its meaning?

The term 'agency,' a bit like me back in high school, is profoundly misunderstood.

So, before the prompting and technical details, here’s my working definition:

This definition provides a line in the sand for when a system becomes agentic.

However, agency takes many forms.

The Nuts & Bolts of Agency:

To get under the hood of how agency works, we can break it down into core mechanics.

First, Sensing, Agency begins with openness to the world, perceiving signals from the environment. In more advanced forms, this involves constructing internal models: representations of its context, self, or others. Perception alone is inert.

The agent must then Evaluate these observations against internal preferences, goals, or some form of utility function, forming the basis for meaningful decisions.

This evaluation leads to Acting, where decisions translate into outputs that affect the environment. Genuine agents also observe the effects of their actions, creating a feedback loop that allows them to learn and update future behavior.

Two principles underpin this architecture:

Autonomy, meaning the agent self-directs this loop, not just executing external instructions, and Substrate Agnosticism, which means the agent’s material (biological, digital, or organizational) is irrelevant.

Six Vertical Levels of Agency

However, as I delved deeper, I realized agency presents in many forms across a spectrum of complexity, rather than as a single, uniform concept.

While the core process is universal, not all agents are equal.

Agency expresses itself with increasing complexity.

This theory proposes a six-tier model of agency, each tier representing a qualitatively new layer of capability:

Tier 1: Reactive Agency (The Basic Reflex)

• At its simplest, an agent just reacts to immediate stimuli based on fixed rules. Think of a thermostat: it senses temperature, evaluates against a setpoint, and acts (turns the heat/AC on/off). Minimal, yet it fulfills the basic agentic loop (without significant modeling or learning).

Tier 2: Adaptive Agency (Learning to Navigate)

• Here, learning becomes explicit. The agent modifies its behavior based on past outcomes. A simple robot vacuum that learns to avoid obstacles after bumping into them is a good example. The "continuously learning" aspect of our core definition really kicks in here.

Tier 3: Predictive/Model-Based Agency (The Dawn of Foresight)

• A significant leap! These agents possess internal models of their world, allowing them to simulate "what if" scenarios and plan before acting. This is where foresight emerges – from a chess AI considering future moves to an animal planning a hunt.

Tier 4: Reflective Agency (Turning Inwards)

• Agency becomes more sophisticated as agents start to model themselves. They can monitor their own internal states, scrutinize their own goals (a more complex form of "evaluates"), and even change them. This touches on aspects of self-awareness.

Tier 5: Social/Relational Agency (Understanding Others)

• Agents at this tier develop models of other agents. They understand that others have their own goals and perspectives, leading to complex interactions like cooperation, competition, and communication.

Tier 6: Meta-Systemic Agency (Architects of Systems)

• At the current conceptual apex, these agents can understand, design, or fundamentally alter entire systems of agents or the rules and environments that govern them. This is a profound level of influence, from human legislators to potentially advanced AGI.

Why This Matters

Whether designing AI or developing ourselves, agency is the lever of power, growth, and responsibility.

We are all building agents.

A high-agency person:

• Focuses on what can be influenced.

Here is the effectiveness of our feedback loops across 14 teams, and it’s a game changer.

At its core, the system calculates an Overall Feedback Loop Effectiveness (OE) score, which tells us how well we’re doing in real-time.

I use a simple equation that calculates the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA).

It that combines the previous effectiveness score with the current feedback from each team, weighted by their importance. Each team’s feedback is normalized on a scale of 0 to 1, ensuring we can compare apples to apples, regardless of the metrics used.

This way, I can see exactly where we stand and identify which teams are excelling and which ones need a boost. The beauty of this system lies in its simplicity and adaptability.

I assign a Smoothing Factor to balance how much past performance influences our current score, allowing us to react to changes without overreacting.

By regularly collecting feedback and recalibrating our weights based on team importance, we can continuously improve our processes.

How to Use the Equation

1. Assign Weights to Each Team (ωᵢ)

Determine how important each of the 14 teams is in relation to your goals. Assign a weight to each team so that all weights together total 1.

Collect feedback scores for each team and normalize them to a scale of 0 to 1 using Min-Max Normalization.

This ensures the data is comparable across different metrics.

Multiply each team's weight (ωᵢ) by its normalized feedback metric (M̂ᵢ(t)) and sum all the results.
